Volunteering with Wishful Institution was an unforgettable experience. The children were so full of joy, it was truly inspiring to spend time teaching them. They were eager to learn, and it was amazing to see their excitement. The organization is small, but that’s what makes it special, you can make a bigger impact and really connect with the community. Beyond the volunteering, I loved experiencing the local life. The people in Zanzibar were incredibly welcoming and kind, making me feel at home. It was a journey filled with beautiful memories and connections that I will always cherish.

It was a wonderful experience! The school works and the children and young people like to attend it. They really want to redeem themselves and learn new things that can help them for their future. Many of them want to work in tourism so they try to learn as much as possible from the teachers and volunteers. Juma is a nice person and he cares about the kids trying to give them the best chance for their future. The room he stays in is very small but he adapts immediately. As for food, you need to book what you want in the evening a little in advance because you may not find much but just tell Juma to save what you prefer. The neighborhood is very quiet but in general in Zanzibar the people are really generous and helpful, I never felt in danger. enjoy this experience!

My brother and I traveled from Namibia to volunteer at this amazing institution. Our goal was not only to teach but also to learn and we actually got more than that. As volunteers we often feel that we are making a difference Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity and I hope more people will support and be a part of this wonderful team.

I decided to come to Zanzibar and volunteer with WIDE because I was looking for an authentic cultural experience. My task was to give English classes in the evenings and assist the teachers in the Kindergarten in the mornings. I found the experience really enriching and it felt good to feel part of the local community in Kwarara. Mpaka wakati ujao!

I chose to volunteer with WIDE because I'm passionate about Africa, I love working with children and also because I was looking for a volunteering experience in a different reality and culture. My main role at WIDE was to teach English to the Junior class and to help with other matters at the institution. Volunteering with Francis, Juma, and the whole management team was an amazing experience. From the start, I felt welcomed and supported by an organized and helpful team. Staying with locals gave me the chance to experience real lite, enjoy traditional food, and learn some Swahili. Working with the students was the highlight. They were so enthusiastic and inspiring that saying goodbye was hard. Every day was filled with fun and meaningful activities. This enriching experience was full of joy and cultural exchange.
